BF: MUST BE SANTA is a real jumping polka. Did you hear a lot of polka bands growing up?

BD: Yeah, I heard a few.

BF: I never heard that song before. Where did you hear it?

BD: I first heard that song years ago on one of those “Sing Along with Mitch” records. But this version comes from a band called Brave Combo. Somebody sent their record to us for our radio show. They’re a regional band out of Texas that takes regular songs and changes the way you think about them. You oughta hear their version of Hey Jude.

Lupe, I’m sorry to hear that about Estaban Jordan. I read somewhere about how sick he is. I’ve always wanted to see him LIVE but I may not get the chance. Happy Holidays to BC in particular and the BC universe in general.

Oh, and I’ve worked the BC Merch table many times. The best part is when someone comes to the table and says, “Which is the best CD?” or “Which one do you recommend?” Impossible questions to answer!

Got my copy-I am not much for Xmas in any manner , but Handel’s Chorus is a favorite . My other favorite is your Japanese/Rhino CD , not just forXmas ,but -The AVE MARIA was played @ my Mom’s funeral . Looking forward to your visit here in the Woodlands , it will be 2 days prior to my 61st BD-but who is counting , I just hope to be there to sell BC merchandise , it will be 1 year since I was chosen by Lori to do this @ The Warehouse and I love doing it even sharing space w/an ice machine ! 3rd coast Lupe….BTW : Esteban Jordan played @ an art opening here in H-town and had to be helped to put on his accordian/he has Hep C & a liver tumour . He played 5 killer songs and blew the crowd away , the show must go on !

Carl,

I just went to YouTube and typed in “Bob Dylan Must Be Santa.” AMAZING! Who would have thought Dylan would dig Brave Combo? He even included that Okinawan motif (though not as Okinawan as your original version)! Dylan gets higher respect from me for doing this.

BTW, this is my favorite Christmas song of all time – thanks for playing it (by my request ) at Johnny D’s a few years back.

I miss seeing Brave Combo in Austin.

Carl,

That is just amazing. One more amazing thing in the long life of BC. Dylan is an avid listener to others and has an encyclopedic knowledge of American music. He singled you out because you have a genuine appreciation for what you are doing. Knicking your style is a very high compliment.
