27 April 1979, Friday “POLKA AT SUNSET WITH BRAVE COMBO” – Outdoors! Lyceum Amphitheater, NTSU Union, Denton, TX 7:30 PM We decided not to do the concert – chilly winds, cloudy skies (chance of rain) frightened us, But Carl & I were brave enough to call radio stations KIDNT & KNTU and have them anounce our canceling (we figured we’d at least get some radio coverage). Immediately after we did so, my landlord Lum came in & announced that he’d heard ads on KDNT advertising our concert that night, quoting myself as saying disco is sort of like polka. Carl and I decided that some people might show up, so we’ be brave and give them a show. They showed up, allright. We led about 30 hard- core polka fans down into the Dance Studio (WG110) where we work and delivered a stunning performance. Including some Irish music by Tim Wooten, fiddle, myself, flute ( the TIMS) and Carl on drumsl Brave Combo rehearsed that evening – videotape? FREE **************************************
